Fanaticism / Mythomania / Social behaviour

The new about Director Jim Jarmusch visiting Madrid was almost announced clandestinely. 150 free tickets were being offered at the Cinema Doré, in the city center, for the premier of his last movie “The Limits of Control”. It was giving the chance of an exclusive talk with the director itself after the movie. The lines for getting one of those 150 tickets, delivered in two days, were very long, and you could be waiting for up to four hours.

The first day, when I was waiting in line, I arrived and got where my friend was, skipping some 4 or 5 people. No one said anything until more friends also skipped the line, and that triggered complaints with certain violence. Nevertheless none of us got tickets, we had to experience some unpleasant situations due to this disputes.

The next day, I got there at 16:00 and, instead of waiting, I began asking for autographs to everyone in the line. Reactions were fun, people were laughing at the unexpected petition, most of them signing their autographs with a smile on their faces. Through the action I wanted to reflect about fanaticism and mythomania.
